Mythology, the word itself is derived from two Greek words, ‘Mythos’ story of the people and ‘logos’ for speech, meaning the spoken story of the people. Myths and legends are a universal human invention. All races, without exception, since the very inception of there own existence, have possessed their own myths and legends, as the answer to the critical and unanswerable questions of nature. The undeniable attraction towards myths and legends for all human beings is, because each myth is a shaft of human truth, a perception with which a certain culture sees the world.

One person’s myth is another’s religious belief- one person’s fact, another person’s fiction. Mythology is poles apart from didactic literature such as fables, but its relation with other traditional stories such as folklore and legends is much more nebulous. In fact, many societies group their myths, legends, folklore and history together, considering myths to be true accounts of their remote past. It must be taken into consideration that mythologies with the start of modern age, has worked itself into modern discourses.

The new born technologies have given wings to these shelved stories, now the regional mythologies are touching different parts of world. Authors & movies makers are not only using these mythologies but are in a way, changing the complete chronicles of them, such as “Percy Jackson”. “Clash of Titans”, “Thor”. In the coming posts, we will be touching the mythological aspects of each great civilization in detail, namely the Indus , Egyptian , Chinese , Greek , Roman, Aztecs and Norse.
