Sometimes, Ignorance is not bliss.
The questions still exist .Despite being a beautiful part of our country, why are the north eastern states looked upon as non exisiting parts of India or if it is not this then why our brothers and sisters living over there feel so?
Whatever may be the answers, these seven states have given this nation few of those precious gems we never even thought of.
1.Tapi Mra
He is a mountaineer and the first person from Arunachal Pradesh to scale Everest. His adventure does not end with Everest, he has scaled many other peaks too.

Uhuru Peak of Mount Kilimanjaro - 19 February 2010.

God knows, may be he is planning for the next peak. :D
2. Arnab Goswami
He is Indian journalist who is the editor-in-chief and a news anchor of the Indian news channel Times Now and ET Now belongs from Assam. This man may be very well known for his 'Acidic Tongue' but no doubt people thoroughly enjoy his debates over current affairs. Infact, he has won various awards in his fields.
(Well, we can also thank him for giving us some LOL humour in the form of "Barely speaking with Arnub" :P)
3. Arundhati Roy
Our very well known author of The God of Small Things, Suzanna Arundhati Roy is from Meghalaya. She has won the prestigious Man Booker Prize for this. Not only this, she is also a political activist involved in human rights and environmental causes and has written over 15 books and 33 articles regarding such issues. She has even won a National Film Award (screenplay) and has been featured in top 100 influential people of the world in 2014.
We surely want her to write more and more :)
4. Dipa Karmakar
The most sensational young gymnast of India, Dipa Karmakar is from Agartala, Tripura who represents India at the international circuit. She came to recognition when she won a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, held at Glasgow becoming the first Indian female gymnast to do so in the history of the games at the age of 20. She is also one of the five women that have successfully landed the very difficult Produnova vault in competition. She also won a bronze at the Asian Gymnastics Championships and finished fifth at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships both a first for her country.
5.Lal Thanhawla,
He is an Indian politician who has been the Chief Minister of Mizoram since 11 December 2008. He belongs to the Indian National Congress. His contribution in making Mizoram to rise in various fields of sports, journalism, drama etc is immense. He has served as founder president and secretary in almost 15+ associations and clubs
Apart from this, he has won National Citizen Award in 1994 and Mother Teresa Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009.
6.Talimeran Ao
Talimeran Ao from Nagaland was the first captain of the India national football team in the 1948 Summer Olympics, in the team's first official game and was the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent. The Indian team's first match was against Burma, but the game was a walkover. He was also a reputed physician; took MBBS and became Civil Surgeon.
In 2002 the Mohun Bagan honored him by creating the Mohun Bagan Ratna Award and giving him a Life Membership Award.
7. Mary Kom
One of the most popular sports personality of India is Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom is a boxer from Manipur. She is a five-time World Amateur Boxing champion, and the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships. She is the only Indian woman boxer to have qualified and won bronze medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics, competing in the flyweight (51 kg) category. She is the first Indian woman boxer to win Gold Medal in the Asian Games in 2014 in Incheon, South Korea and continuing by inspiring so many people across the world.
There are many more inspiring personalities from the soil of North East India.
