Mythology Beyond Myths: Genesis (Greek Gods)

In the beginning there was only chaos, empty void. Quantities which made the world a comprehensible place didn’t exist. Through these void came, Gaea, the earth, to Tartarus, the great region beneath the earth, to Eros, the ancient god of love, attraction and lust, to Erebus and Night, darkness over Earth and Netherworld. Erebus and Night became pair, gave birth to Ether, divine light and to the Day, the day light. Night alone through its darkness alone produced Doom, Death, Fate , Sleep and Nemesis.

After chaos, It was Gaea’s turn to contribute in the creation. She started with something beautiful, Gave birth and became origin for mountains, lakes , landscapes, birds. But among them, she was proudest of Uranus , God of the sky, who wrapped the earth into his blue mantle and covered it from edge to edge. Soon Earth mated with Uranus and together they created the Mighty Titans, who later become the rulers of the universe.

Oceanus ,The titan god of oceans( the word in fact derived from this.), Hyperion, The ancient and powerful titan lord of sun and Kronos, the leader of all the titans. Other offspring’s consisted of Cyclopes (Powerful creatures who could control fire, and were skillful metal workers, with one eye in middle) and hundred handed giants.

For coming hundreds of years, it was Uranus who held peace, order and power in whole world until his doom.
