Rivalries - PART 1 (HISTORY)

"Know thy self, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories" ~ Sun Tzu

This perfectly goes with the famous tales of the rivalries we have below. It is not only astonishing but quite interesting to know what our roots were like when it came to revenge. QUIRKY, indeed.

Karna and Arjuna

Karna and Arjuna were the greatest warriors ever and also the chief characters from the Mahabharata. These combatants were born of the same mother. The concluding part of Kurkukshetra war between them was the most catastrophic and spellbinding in the entire tale of the Mahabharata. It is believed that the warriors in the battlefield and the Gods watched this battle in admiration for these two Maharathis (greatest of warriors).

(You must read the whole Kurukshetra War to know about this rival)

Maratha and Mughals

Aurangzeb was an imperialist and expansionist. He took mughal empire to the greatest heights and could not tolerate any challenge to his power. On the other hand Shivaji being a great Hindu king wanted to protect Hinduism and enhance his power. He wanted freedom for his country, specially for the part where he was born, which is called Maharashtra. These two rivalry emperors tried to wipe their enemies off to get the clean sweep of India. A tale says that Aurangzeb even captivated this great maratha hero and his son but instead of despair Shivaji came out with a plan and successfully escaped his custody. Fact Source

Chanakya and Dhana Nanda

Dhana Nanda was an autocratic ruler. He imposed various taxes and was thus regarded as a greedy ruler, there was also a feeling of discontent against him. Chanakya was very famous professor, at Taxila university. He went to Magadha court concerned about the foreign attack on India along with the proposal to ostracize the enemy. Dhana Nanda not only rejected the proposal but also insulted Chanakya. Chanakya took a pledge to take revenge. He trained Chandragupta Maurya as his disciple and finally defeated Dhana Nanda through his extraordinary tactics. Dhana Nanda had to pay for taking Chanakya lightly.

(They didn't have movies in those times to get such lessons)

Humayun and Kamran

Humayun promised his father on his father's deathbed that he would always be kind to kamrans brothers, Kamran, Askari and Hindal. Humayuns brothers especially Kamran became extremely selfish when he was elected as the mughal emperor and thus always tried to dethrone him and cause harm may it be in battles or the massacre to kill his son. Even after getting betrayed so many times he forgave Kamran. But due to the pressure on Humanyun he had to reluctantly had Kamran blinded.
